Week 48
In my current role I get to supervise four amazing student staff who are student leaders for their respective communities. One of our student staff this year was a leader in a dance company called "Silhouettes" which puts on a dance show at the end of every year. The students dedicated all their time and effort into choreographing and practicing for this show, so I was super excited to attend! I ended up going with my office mate, and my friend who happened to be an intern in our office over the summer. Had SO MUCH fun!

Description:
Silhouettes Dance Company is so excited to share with you our 15th annual showcase, Walk Unafraid!
"Walk Unafraid" tells the story of a young woman on the brink of an adventure. The show begins with our heroine's brave choice to pack up and move to a new city, all on her own. Her journey is filled with trials and tribulations, to which many of us can relate. Our show features our members' original choreography in a variety of different styles including ballet, contemporary, hip hop, tap, and jazz. This year we are also very excited to welcome back some of our alumni, who have put together a special piece for our 15th year anniversary.
Experience:
- Bought tickets ahead of time ($15 for students) and had a fun time out for dinner with my friends before heading over
- Holy. Smokes. This production was absolutely incredible
- Professional theatre, professional lighting, amazing crowd, incredible dancing!
- Two hours with an intermission - SO GOOD!
What I learned:
- I used to be involved in student productions - a reminder of that feeling; what it's like to pour your time and effort into a show and then see the outcome
- Also a reminder of what students can do without the help (and in some cases, hindrance) of staff!
